Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum
At Wainscot, we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework to support an integrated approach to early learning and care. Our curriculum is guided by four principles:
1. Unique Child: We recognise that every child is a competent learner from birth and capable of achieving their full potential.
2. Enabling Environment: We understand that the environment plays a crucial role in supporting and extending children's development and learning.
3. Positive Relationships: We believe that children learn to be strong, confident and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and keyworkers.
4. Learning & Development: We know that children's activities and experiences are shaped by seven defined areas of learning.
Our education programme is shaped by seven key areas of learning and development set out in the EYFS curriculum. These are divided into three prime areas of learning:
1. Communication & Language: We provide opportunities for children to experience a rich language environment, develop their confidence and skills in expressing themselves, and speak and listen in a range of situations.
2. Physical Development: We provide opportunities for young children to be active and interactive; and to develop their co-ordination, control, and movement.
3. Personal, Social & Emotional Development: We support children's social skills, emotional well-being, and personal development, ensuring they feel safe, secure and happy in their learning environment.
