Committed to Helping You Achieve Optimal Health

At our osteopathic clinic, we pride ourselves on providing a professional, efficient, and friendly service to our patients. Our osteopath, David Stainer-Smith, is a fully registered practitioner who has been practising for many years. With a strong background in sport and fitness, David has a unique understanding of the needs of his patients, which sets him apart from other osteopaths.

Our Services

We offer a wide range of services to help alleviate a variety of ailments, from back pain to fibromyalgia. Our osteopath will work with you to create an individually tailored treatment plan that suits your unique needs. Our treatment approach involves a combination of traditional structural and functional osteopathy, soft tissue techniques, manipulations, and cranial osteopathy.

What to Expect from a Session with Us

During your first appointment, our osteopath will take a detailed case history, including a full medical history. This will be followed by a thorough examination of the spine or the region where you are experiencing pain. Please note that you may need to remove some clothing for the examination, but you are welcome to bring a friend or relative with you into the treatment room if it makes you feel more comfortable.

New Patient Information

To ensure that we can provide the best possible care for you, we kindly request that you bring a note of any medications you are taking, including prescribed and over-the-counter medications, as well as any homeopathic or herbal remedies. We also recommend that you arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your appointment time to complete any necessary paperwork.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long do osteopathic appointments usually last? They typically last around 40-60 minutes, with the first appointment being slightly longer to allow for a full case history to be taken.
  • How much does treatment cost? The cost of treatment varies depending on the location and type of appointment. You can find more information on our pricing page.
  • Can I see an osteopath through the NHS? Currently, access to osteopathy in Devon on the NHS is limited, but services are becoming more widespread as commissioning authorities recognise the benefits of providing osteopathy to patients. To find out if NHS treatment is available in your area, speak to your GP and/or contact your local primary care trust.
