Laying foundations for learning, one child at a time.

Our Story

Established in 1997, Leapfrog Nursery School has been dedicated to providing a nurturing and inclusive environment for children to learn and thrive. With three settings in prime locations in Winchmore Hill, N21, we are proud of our outstanding teaching and learning, and our commitment to laying the foundations for a lifelong love of learning.

Our Vision

At Leapfrog, we believe that every child is unique and special, and that our role is to support and nurture their growth and development. We strive to create a welcoming and creative environment where children can become independent learners, and we pride ourselves on our child-centered approach, where parents and carers are at the heart of everything we do.

Key Principles

We believe in the importance of creating a stimulating and engaging environment that sparks children's curiosity and encourages them to explore and learn. We achieve this by providing a variety of open-ended natural resources that extend children's interests and encourage creativity and imagination. Our team of skilled and dedicated staff work tirelessly to create a bespoke and enabling environment that meets the needs of every child.

Curriculum Design and Planning

We believe in planning daily activities based on the interests and needs of our children. Our curriculum is designed to provide a broad and balanced experience that covers all areas of learning, from literacy and numeracy to creativity and personal, social and emotional development. We use a variety of methods, including "in the moment" planning, to ensure that our activities are engaging and relevant to the children's interests.

Assessment and Tracking

We believe in tracking and monitoring the progress and development of every child, to ensure that we are providing the right support and challenges to help them reach their full potential. We use a variety of methods, including verbal and written reports, to communicate with parents and carers about their child's progress and development.

Inclusive Practice

We believe in the importance of being an inclusive setting, and we strive to provide a welcoming and supportive environment for all children, regardless of their background, ability, or need. We work closely with parents and carers to ensure that we are meeting the individual needs of every child, and we provide a range of strategies and interventions to support children with special educational needs and SEND.

Extra-Curricular Activities

We believe in providing a range of extra-curricular activities to enrich the nursery experience and provide opportunities for children to develop new skills and interests. These activities include story cafes, FUDGE days, and keyworker coffee mornings, which provide opportunities for children to share their learning with family members and build confidence and independence.

Innovative Practice

We believe in staying ahead of the curve and embracing new and innovative practices that benefit our children and families. We are proud to have implemented Makaton training for our staff, which provides a visual way of communicating and supports language development for all children. We are also committed to using technology to enhance our practice, including the use of the app Tapestry to track and monitor children's progress and development.
