Empowering the publishing industry in Scotland
Publishing Scotland is the network, trade, and development body for the book publishing sector in Scotland. With a rich history dating back to 1974, our organization has evolved to become a registered charity governed by a main Board of Trustees. Our codes of practice serve as a guide for our operations and commitment to excellence.
BookTrade Conference
Our annual Scottish Book Trade Conference is Scotland's biggest book trade conference, bringing together industry professionals for a day of networking, learning, and doing business. This year's conference will take place on Thursday, 16 May 2024, at Central Hall in Edinburgh and online.
International Activities
Representing Scottish publishing at a variety of international trade fairs and events throughout the year, we foster relationships between the international publishing community and their Scottish counterparts. Our Translation Fund encourages international publishers to translate works by Scottish writers, and our Author International Travel Fund supports Scottish writers promoting their work overseas.
Networking and Development
As full members of various arts and business organizations, we develop relationships and best practices within the book trade and wider literary community. Our trade liaison and development services ensure that our members stay informed and connected.
Publications and Training
Our publications include the latest new books catalogues, annual reports, and more. Our films showcase Scottish writers and books. We also offer a range of training programs, from editorial and marketing courses to contracts and legal courses. Our experienced tutors provide delegates with the latest industry knowledge and practical skills.
