Unleash Your Child's Imagination

Christchurch Nursery is a charming private nursery located in the picturesque village of Radlett. Established in 1962, the nursery has been providing high-quality early years education and care for several decades. Our current manager took over in 2006, continuing our commitment to fostering a nurturing and stimulating environment for children to learn and grow.

Our nursery is set up in a delightful carpeted Church Hall, complete with a spacious, fully enclosed garden for children to explore. We aim to enhance the development and education of children under statutory school age, supporting them in achieving the Early Years Foundation Goals for children's learning as they transition to compulsory education. We are dedicated to providing a safe, secure, and inclusive environment, ensuring equality of opportunity for all children in our care.

Our Services

At Christchurch Nursery, we offer a wide range of services to support the growth and development of your child:

1. Education and Care: We provide education and care for children below statutory school age, with a high ratio of adults to children. This ensures that each child receives individual care and attention, tailored to their unique needs.

2. Curriculum: Our curriculum is specifically tailored for pre-school children, following the guidelines set out by the DfES. It leads to approved foundation learning and is monitored by OFSTED. We regularly assess and record children's progress and future learning needs through continuous observation, ensuring that they are prepared for their next stage of education.

3. Key Person System: Each child is assigned a key person who is responsible for their initial settling-in period. This helps children form a bond with their key-worker, providing a sense of security and familiarity. The key person is also responsible for keeping a developmental record and writing out weekly information.

4. Learning Journeys: Every child has their own Learning Journey, which includes end-of-term progress reports, notes, photographs, and creative work. These journeys are available for parents to review at any time and are handed out to families on their last day with us.

Areas of Learning and Development

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, which consists of seven areas of learning and development:

1. Communication and Language: We encourage children's development in listening, attention, understanding, and speaking.

2. Physical Development: We support children's physical development, including fine and gross motor skills, coordination, and movement.

3. Personal, Social, and Emotional Development: We foster children's social skills, emotional understanding, and self-regulation, preparing them for future relationships and experiences.

4. Literacy: We introduce early reading and writing skills, helping children develop a love for stories and language.

5. Mathematics: We promote children's understanding of numbers, shape, space, and measures.

6. Understanding the World: We encourage children's curiosity and exploration of the world around them, including people, places, technology, and the environment.

7. Expressive Arts and Design: We help children express themselves through various mediums, such as art, music, movement, and imaginative play.

At Christchurch Nursery, we believe every child is unique and has the potential to succeed. Our teachers focus on building each child's self-esteem and confidence through positive feedback and rewards. We nurture their natural strengths and encourage their curiosity, helping them develop a lifelong love for learning.
