HMH Architects Ltd is a distinguished RIBA Chartered Practice with a rich history that traces back to the notable architect, E D Jefferiss Mathews OBE. Based in the North East of England, we have been serving a diverse range of clients across various sectors since 1953. Our team is dedicated to providing a quality design-led service, characterised by a professional, personal, and thoughtful approach to each project.

Our History

Founded in 1953, our practice has evolved and adapted to the changing landscapes of architecture and design. In 1995, former partners John Kinmond and Andrew Watson established HMH Architects, focusing on the residential, commercial, and workspace sectors. In 2022, David McKellar took over the practice and restructured it into a Limited Company. Our lineage as a continuing practice can be traced back to E D Jefferiss Mathews OBE, a former Vice President of the RIBA, Honorary Treasurer, and a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA).
