Unwind in comfort and character, surrounded by natural beauty
Welcome to Fishermans, our award-winning 19th Century former fisherman's cottage, nestled on the beach on the South Lakeland coast. Our picturesque cottage offers spectacular uninterrupted views of the sea to the front and rolling National Trust farmland to the rear, set in this unique and unspoilt Area of Outstanding National Beauty on the edge of the Lake District National Park.
Our Services
We offer a warm, welcoming, and stylish holiday home that lives up to the beauty of its location. Our cottage has recently undergone a top-to-toe renovation to provide an exceptional standard of luxury accommodation with comfort and character. We have used natural materials throughout, such as slate flooring, wool carpets and blankets from Lakeland, wool rugs, a solid oak kitchen, and flooring, cotton fabrics, and feather bedding. We have also installed modern quality appliances and home entertainments, and there are plenty of good books and reading material. Its quality, tradition, and location combine to give you the perfect environment in which to unwind and an ideal base from which to explore the many delights of this rich and unspoilt region.
Our Cottage
Our cottage has two wood-burning stoves, full gas-fired central heating, and double glazing throughout, making it a perfect year-round retreat. Downstairs, the living room has a relaxing cast-iron wood-burning stove and a squashy sofa and armchairs, from which to enjoy the sea view from the picture window. The well-equipped dining kitchen also has its own wood-burning stove and modern appliances. Upstairs, the front of the cottage overlooks the sea with spectacular views across the bay to the Lakeland Fells beyond.
Our Location
We are perfectly located in a region with a wealth of attractions on the edge of the Lake District National Park. Silverdale village is within a 5-minute walk, with 2 pubs serving food, a restaurant, 2 cafes, and good local shops. There are also an 18-hole golf course and a holiday park offering a swimming pool and gym. The wider area has many excellent places to eat, with award-winning local produce of fish, meats, and cheeses.
Things to Do
From our cottage, you can enjoy fabulous walks straight from the door, on the beach, along the coast, across countryside, and through woodland areas, many owned and managed by the National Trust. The nearby RSPB reserve at Leighton Moss and numerous other Nature Reserves offer access to wildlife. Rare flora and fauna and butterflies add further color and interest to this dramatic landscape. Market towns such as Kirkby Lonsdale, Cartmel, Kendal, and Lancaster offer independent shopping within a 30-minute drive, and there is easy access to Windermere and the Lake District for lake cruising, water sports, walking, and sightseeing.
