We are a Worthing, West Sussex based charity that offers compassionate and confidential counselling services to women and their partners who are confronted with unintended pregnancies, pregnancy losses such as miscarriage or stillbirth, or have experienced abortion. We provide a safe and non-judgmental space for individuals to express and process their deep feelings that often accompany these experiences. Our services are available to men as well as women, and we offer counselling through face-to-face meetings, phone calls, or via Zoom.
Our Vision
Our vision is to create a supportive community in Worthing where no one has to face pregnancy loss or unintended pregnancies without proper help and guidance. We believe that all young people should be able to equip themselves with essential knowledge and understanding of pregnancy. As we are a non-medical agency, we cannot directly refer for an abortion. Instead, we offer unbiased support for all options, connecting individuals with other organizations and agencies based on their unique decisions.
History
Acorn Pregnancy Counselling Centre has been serving the community in Worthing since 1995. Our experienced and highly-trained teams have helped countless individuals navigate the challenges associated with unintended pregnancies and pregnancy losses. We are an independent charity that receives no NHS funding and are available to help you on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
Counselling
At Acorn, we offer free counselling sessions for those struggling with the emotional and physical trauma caused by unplanned pregnancies or pregnancy losses. Our counselling team is specially trained and regularly supervised, with enhanced DBS checks for your peace of mind. Referrals often come from GPs and other health professionals, who appreciate the extra support we can provide for their patients.
School Education
Acorn delivers health and relationship education sessions in schools, with the primary aim of helping young people make informed decisions and choices about their future. Our experienced volunteer teams deliver informative sessions, usually in years 10 or 11, and we provide additional resources and information on our Schools page.
