Our Story
When you stay with us, you are stepping into a slice of history in a building that dates back to the 1720s. Originally serving as a residence for judges attending the Assize Courts, our hotel now marries its rich, historical past with modern luxury. Our story began in the 18th century, when York was a hub of judicial activity. County courts held by magistrates dealt with civil and criminal matters, and more serious crimes were referred on to the Assize courts where a jury and professional judges sat in judgement. These high-ranking judiciary figures, often aristocrats, knights of the realm or holders of government office, came to York twice a year.
Our Hotel
Our hotel features 15 individually designed bedrooms, each equipped with HD TV, free Wi-Fi, Roberts radio, iPod speaker and docking station, a Nespresso machine, and handmade biscuits. All our bathrooms have drench showers and a fantastic range of luxury Molton Brown bath, body, and skincare products. We offer a range of rooms, including Classic Double, Classic Twin, Luxury King, and Luxury King with Roll Top Bathtub, each with its own unique character and charm.
