Our History
Our inn has a rich history, dating back to the days of smugglers, wreckers, and villains. Daphne du Maurier, the renowned author, wrote her best-selling novel "Jamaica Inn" after staying with us in 1930. We've carefully preserved the character and charm of our old buildings, including the olde worlde bars and some restaurant areas, while also providing modern bedrooms with breathtaking views over the moor. Our Smuggling Museum is a must-visit, where you can discover the tales of Cornish smugglers and villains, and our Daphne du Maurier Museum features recently acquired exhibits, including original letters from the Royal Family.
Our Services
At Jamaica Inn, we offer a range of services to make your stay with us unforgettable. Our 36 bedrooms and suites are equipped with Wi-Fi and Sky channels, including Sports and Movies, and some even come with four-poster beds and en-suite bathrooms. You can feast on delicious home-cooked food in our Smugglers Bar and Pedlars Restaurant, or drop by for a cream tea, snack, or coffee. If you're feeling brave, join us for a Ghost Hunt or a Murder Mystery evening, and explore our Farm Shop and Gift Shop, stacked with local Cornish produce and over 5,000 items to choose from.

At Jamaica Inn, we're passionate about good food and drink. Our menu features a range of delicious dishes, from breakfast to dinner, and we're proud to serve local Cornish produce whenever possible. Our bars offer a magnificent range of ales, ciders, and wines, so you can sample a local brew or a superb wine to break your journey or after a day of exploring.
Opening Times and Where to Find Us
We're open from 7.30am to midnight, with breakfast served to hotel guests and visitors, and dinner served until 9pm. Our Museums are open from 8am to 9pm throughout the year, and our Farm Shop and Gift Shop are open every day, with varying times. You can find us on Bodmin Moor, by the A30, about midway between Launceston and Bodmin. Just follow the brown tourist signs, and we'll welcome you with open arms.
