The Islanders Restaurant has been a fixture in Canvey for over 40 years, serving its famous Fish and Chips to generations of locals and visitors alike. The story began in 1982 when Louis and Katina Savva first opened the takeaway, before expanding to a 38-seater fully licensed restaurant in 1984. Today, the Islander Restaurant is known for its fresh fish, burgers, and wraps, all sourced from around the British & Irish Isles, under the watchful eye of Chef Luis.

The Islander Restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, from Tuesday to Saturday. Our menu boasts some truly classic dishes, from the famous Islanders Fish & Chips, to beautifully grilled burgers served from the grill, alongside an exquisite choice of fish, with Sea Bass, Skate, Rock to name a few. Locals and holiday makers afar have been dropping in for a light lunch, or evening meal with friends to bask in the relaxed atmosphere of the Islander Restaurant. Though there is always lots of good humour and wit, rest assured we are serious about our fish.

Our Cod Fillets are prepared in our own recipe golden batter, served with potato chips cooked in 100% refined Ground Nut Oil. We are dedicated in serving quality fresh fish and locally sourced meat in a comfortable surrounding with a personable and welcoming service. The restaurant is in the heart of Canvey Town on the Furtherwick Road.

Our Kitchen

Our menu is based around fish, burgers and wraps. We serve tempting dishes: seafood baskets, Peri-Peri chicken, our famous Fish and Chips, 8oz Aberdeen Angus burger with cheese & bacon, Super Salads and much more. New to the menu is the Islanders Wrap, which is really something you should try. All of our dishes are prepared in our kitchen using the freshest, all-natural ingredients. Our Aberdeen Angus Steak Burger is made with the finest cuts of meat, seasoned to perfection and grilled to your liking.

Sustainability

Fish and Chips has been our business for over 40 years and we wish it to continue for many years to come. We therefore take the subject of sustainability very seriously and have for many years been concerned about the over fishing of the nation's favourite fish; especially cod and haddock. We care about the world around us and what mother nature gives us. We therefore make sure that all of the fish sold in our shops is sourced from sustainable, well managed fishing sources. Such as the crystal clear waters of our Northern and Arctic seas, from fisheries run with an intelligent and concerned view. This will hopefully help towards ensuring a long term future for the worlds fish stocks.
