Michael Hart is a distinguished blacksmith based in the picturesque village of Horsmonden, Kent. Operating across Kent and Sussex, Michael specialises in creating high-quality, hand-forged ironwork, marrying traditional methods with innovative design in both traditional and contemporary mediums. Enquiries and Consultations

We welcome all enquiries, which can be made by phone or email. Upon initial contact, we will discuss the specifics of your project and any initial ideas you may have. We recommend a free site visit, as this helps to clarify your project and ensures you have as much input as possible.

Design Process

Once a budget has been established, we will produce a number of designs, each with an outline of estimated costs and completion time. At this stage, designs can be critiqued and refined, and upon agreement and receipt of the deposit, production can begin.

Production

During the production stage, we keep clients informed of the commission's progress, and you are welcome to visit our workshop to see your project in the making. We believe in the importance of skilled labour and are committed to delivering work of the highest standard.

Fitting and Installation

We offer a complete delivery and fitting service, ensuring the same high quality of craftsmanship from metalwork to installation. Our commitment to excellence extends to every aspect of our service.

About Michael

Michael's journey in blacksmithing began with several years of experience working with various blacksmiths across Kent and Sussex. Seeking to broaden his skills and knowledge, Michael studied 'Blacksmithing and Metalwork' at Plumpton Agricultural College, where he achieved an overall distinction for his work and was awarded Top Practical Student in Metal Smithing. He was also the first blacksmithing student to be named Top Overall Practical Student of the College since its founding.

Michael's talent and dedication have been recognised with numerous awards, including First prize at The South of England Country Show for high-quality metalwork and traditional design. Since establishing his first forge in Horsmonden on 1st January 2012, Michael has continued to excel, earning several certificates from the Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths, most recently the prestigious Diploma.
