Welcome to Green Hedges Day Nursery and Pre-School, where we offer a warm and friendly child-centred environment for children from birth to five years old. Our mission is to provide high-quality care and education that enables every child to reach their full potential and become confident learners. We are committed to creating a safe, happy, and stimulating atmosphere where mutual respect and praise are the foundation of all our interactions.
Green Hedges Day Nursery and Pre-School has been serving the Scarborough community since 2000. We are registered with North Yorkshire County Council and OFSTED to deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and have received a 5-star rating for our Food Hygiene facilities from the Environment Health Department. Our nursery is registered for 51 children per session, providing a high standard of care and education over two floors.
Our base rooms are designed to promote curiosity and exploration with provocations that stimulate learning. Our outdoor facilities include covered play areas, log cabins, mud kitchens, and a tree to climb. These areas allow children to develop their physical skills, enjoy the fresh air, and connect with nature. We are also fortunate to be located near local amenities such as the beach, library, art gallery, museums, and the scenic Esplanade with walks to the Shuttleworth Gardens (fairy gardens), which are always popular.
Our Service Offerings
At Green Hedges Day Nursery and Pre-School, we provide a wide range of services tailored to meet the needs of every child. Our highly qualified and experienced staff are dedicated to the continued development of the babies and children in their care. We offer outstanding 5-star care and education through activities such as sand, water, painting, baking, constructing, sticking, and model making. These activities are designed to provoke discussions, provide time for self-directed play, and develop essential speaking and listening skills.
We provide a wide range of activities that are carefully planned and based around your child's development needs. These activities allow children to practice new skills with time and patience. Our Creative Area, Green Room, and Ladybird Lodge provide ample opportunities for children to engage in sensory play and get messy. We encourage children to interact with other children and adults to promote rich language opportunities and build relationships.
We are proud to be part of the Yorkshire and Humber Together Stronger Practice Hub. This partnership enables us to work alongside other nurseries and share best practices, enhancing the quality of care and education we provide.
