Bear Cottage is a charming self-catering house, situated in the heart of the countryside near Castlewellan Forest Park. This 120-year-old railway cottage is nestled in the breathtaking valley of the 'Windy Gap' in the Slieve Croob Mountain range of The Kingdom of The Mourne Mountains. The cottage has been lovingly restored by its owners, Ruth and Aaron, and now offers cosy cottage accommodation for up to 5 people with 3 bedrooms, 2 living rooms, a well-equipped kitchen, a bathroom and a large garden with private parking. With forests, mountains, lakes and beaches nearby, as well as proximity to St Patrick's Trail, this is a great location for sight-seeing.

Bear Cottage is a perfect base for visiting the Northern Ireland's Mourne Mountains and seaside town of Newcastle. The cottage is both comfortable and enchanting, which charms the hearts of all who visit. Everyone is welcome! The cottage is particularly popular for couples, families and friends who love outdoor activities and we welcome your four-legged furry friend to join in the fun too! There is a secure lock-up facility for bikes and equipment.

The cottage is situated near to Newcastle and the Mourne Mountains for hikes or beach walks and Castlewellan Forest Park offers walking, cycling, mountain biking, horse-riding, orienteering, running and canoeing.
