The Hill Cottage is a charming rural self-catering accommodation nestled in the countryside of Killyleagh, Co. Down, N. Ireland. This picturesque cottage was originally a stone farm building, which was lovingly converted into a holiday home in 1990. The back door of the cottage opens onto the old farm yard, which is now a peaceful haven for the owner's Connemara ponies. The cottage is a non-smoking establishment, which comfortably sleeps six guests. It boasts a cosy sitting room with a wood-burning stove, tastefully furnished rooms, and a well-equipped kitchen. The Hill Cottage is set in a delightful family-friendly country garden, offering a secluded space to unwind and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Co. Down countryside.

Staying in the Cottage

The Hill Cottage provides a home away from home, set in a tranquil and beautiful location. It features a double bedroom on the ground floor and two twin rooms on the first floor, along with a cot and highchair for families with young children. The back door leads to the old farm yard, providing ample car parking space for guests. French doors on the south side of the cottage open onto a spacious garden with a patio, barbecue, and garden furniture, perfect for alfresco dining. The garden offers children the chance to play in the open space and walk along the woodland paths and green lanes around the farm.

At The Hill Cottage, we take pride in supporting Green Tourism and are committed to preserving and enhancing the natural beauty of the farm. We have created woodland walks and green lane paths, providing guests with an opportunity to explore the unspoilt countryside and enjoy the diversity of wildlife on the farm. We have also joined forces with the RSPB to encourage more wildlife and have planted a wildflower meadow, wild bird cover, and a wild life pond. We are pleased to announce that we have won the Farming Life Conservation Award for our efforts.

The Hill Cottage is located just two miles from the villages of Crossgar and Killyleagh, providing easy access to local shops and amenities. Delamont Country Park, a short drive from the cottage, offers a host of activities for the whole family, including horse-riding, canoeing, and outdoor adventure activities. The Mourne Mountains, Forest Parks, National Trust Properties, excellent Golf Courses, and quiet sandy beaches are all within easy reach. For those who prefer a quieter pace, there are many beautiful walks in the surrounding countryside, allowing guests to enjoy the stunning views of the Irish countryside.
