The Big FX Company was established in the midst of the global pandemic of 2020 by a group of passionate theatre and event professionals. With a clear objective to make professional-grade special effects equipment available to households, schools, community spaces, and venues, the company set off on a mission to provide innovative and practical solutions for creating memorable moments.

The idea for The BIG FX Company took flight when the founders discovered that an accidental over-order of pink electrical tape had been snatched up by an unexpectedly diverse group of consumers. Craft enthusiasts, hobbyists, playgroups, parents, and schools had all found a use for the tape, illustrating that there was a robust market eager for access to more creative tech products.

After a lengthy conversation over the cacophony of three young children, the co-founders decided to merge their extensive theatre and live event experience with a new venture: an online platform offering accessible, awe-inspiring technology. The goal was to deliver the wonder and excitement of professional theatre and live events to those outside of these industries, and in doing so, unleash the boldness and creativity of customers across a spectrum of applications.
