Welcome to Howard Nurseries Ltd, one of the country's largest wholesale perennial specialists, established over fifty years ago. Our business, like our plants, has grown steadily in the beautiful Suffolk countryside, from humble origins to covering over 100 acres today. The nursery was founded in 1969 as a partnership, with a dream, practical experience, a few stock plants, and half an acre of poor, rented land. Today, we are proud to be one of the foremost perennial producers in Great Britain, offering an expanding range of over 1600 plant varieties.
Our commitment to service, quality, and plant range has been the foundation of our company. David Howard, the sole owner since 1999, has instilled his passion for these values in our fantastic nursery team of around 40 full-time members, who are dedicated to growing and selling high-quality plants. They take a personal interest in ensuring that everything looks fantastic when it leaves our site.
Services Offered
At Howard Nurseries, we specialize in the propagation and production of a wide range of herbaceous perennials. Our annual production includes field-grown plants, as well as 9cm and 2L varieties, with a few 5L options available. Although not all our land is used for herbaceous perennial production, we ensure that the land in use is optimized through a fallow or agricultural crop rotation programme.
Our services extend beyond production, with a dedicated sales and accounts team, as well as a propagation department conducting peat-free trials on the nursery. We strive to minimize our environmental impact through the use of 100% plastic-free field production and almost peat-free container production, with a goal to remove peat from plug production.
Delivery and Collection
We offer nationwide delivery, excluding Northern Ireland, as well as contactless nursery collection on Thursdays and Fridays. Our delivery packaging is recyclable, using cardboard boxes, newspaper, shredded paper, and a recyclable plant information tag. Additionally, we provide color labels for our entire range, with a bespoke label creation service available free of charge.
Our commitment to the environment is reflected in our use of pots made from 100% recycled plastic, which are kerbside recyclable. We have also been awarded the Carbon Charter GOLD award for our use of solar panels, battery storage, and water recycling and storage.
Ordering and Availability
Ordering from Howard Nurseries is straightforward, with no minimum quantity requirement. However, orders of less than x12 per variety, excluding 2L stock, will incur a surcharge of 45p per plant.
