A Rich Heritage
Our story begins with the renowned Harleston Magpie Inn, where a bowling green stood proudly since the 1700s. This beloved green became the foundation for the Harleston Magpie Bowls club, one of the eight founding members of the Norfolk Bowls Association in 1936. Sadly, in 1959, a devastating fire razed the cherished clubhouse, leaving behind only charred remains. Despite this tragic setback, the spirit of the club remained unwavering.
Facilities and Services
Shotford Bowling Club boasts six outdoor rinks and four indoor rinks, ensuring year-round enjoyment of the sport. Our facilities are complemented by a comfortable bar and lounge area, a fully equipped function room, and ample off-street parking. We proudly offer:
- Indoor Bowls: Competitive and casual leagues for men, women, and mixed teams, alongside casual afternoon "roll-up" sessions for newcomers and experienced bowlers to mingle and enjoy the game.
- Outdoor Bowls: Enjoy the refreshing outdoor atmosphere with organized league games or casual games with friends.
