Our Team

**Andrew Horton - BEng (Hons), CEng, MICE, CMaPS: Director*

Andrew Horton started his career in the construction industry more than 30 years ago following his completion of an ONC in civil engineering at the CITB centre in Norfolk. He furthered his education with an honours degree in civil engineering at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. Sponsored by a large contractor, Andrew gained invaluable hands-on experience as a site engineer on multi-million-pound projects in London and Wales. He boasts 25 years of design office experience specialising in refurbishment and conversion works, new-build domestic and commercial properties. Andrew's passion for practical problem-solving, whether using advanced analysis software or traditional design techniques, enables us to deliver innovative and pragmatic solutions tailored to our clients' needs. As a member of Institutions of Civil Engineers and a certified member of the Association for Project Safety (CMaPS), Andrew oversees the company's CDM duties. Outside of work, Andrew's hobbies include machinery restoration, digging, rugby, motorbikes, and golf.

**Ross Carpenter - BEng (Hons): Director*

Ross Carpenter joined PCA Consulting Engineers in 2006 following a brief stint with Sir Robert McAlpine. His experience spans sites and design offices, working on diverse projects in the residential, commercial, and historic sectors. Ross was appointed director in 2018, and he is highly regarded for his connections with local contractors and exceptional service delivery. He has spearheaded several projects in Devon and Cornwall and has ventured further afield across the country, owing to our expertise. Ross particularly gravitates towards bespoke domestic projects and conservation engineering, requiring a thoughtful and meticulous approach to preserve, strengthen, and modernise historic structures. In his leisure time, Ross participates in water sports, spends quality time with his family, and takes part in what he deems "old man's basketball". Additionally, he has recently picked up enduro off-road motorcycling as a new hobby.

**Sophia Darke - BSc (Hons): Finance Director*

Sophia Darke, a Cardiff University business degree holder, joined PCA Consulting Engineers in March. Sophia manages our firm's finances, providing expert oversight of our business operations.
