Our menu features seasonal pub food at its best, using fresh, local ingredients to bring a wide selection of ever-changing light bites, pub classics, and specials. We're also proud to offer a great Sunday Lunch, with a choice of three meats, all the trimmings, and a vegetarian option. In addition to our food, we have a wide range of drinks, including real ales from local brewer Arkell's, wines, gins, and great coffee.
If you're looking for a place to rest your head, we have eight character rooms in our separate house, each prepared to a high standard to ensure a comfortable and relaxing stay. Our rooms are perfect for those looking to explore the local area, which is steeped in history and culture.
Our Location
Our pub is situated in the picturesque village of Burghclere, just off the A34, and is surrounded by stunning countryside. We're close to Highclere Castle, the historic setting for the award-winning Downton Abbey, and the beautiful Watership Down, which inspired the famous story and film. The village is also home to the Sandham Memorial Chapel, which features unique and moving murals by the world-famous English artist, Sir Stanley Spencer.
