Adams Piano Ltd, a premier piano tuning and restoration service, is based in Grimsby, Lincolnshire, and has been serving the northern half of Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire since 1992. Established by an experienced piano technician with a rich background in electronics and music, the company has built a strong reputation for delivering top-notch piano tuning, maintenance, and restoration services.

The proprietor of Adams Piano Ltd began his career as a radio technician in Louth, Lincolnshire, where he completed his apprenticeship between the ages of 16 and 21. Following the bankruptcy of his employer, he decided to retrain for a career in piano tuning. He attended the prestigious Newark Technical College from 1984 to 1987, earning the college's own Diploma and City and Guilds Parts One and Two in Stringed Keyboard Instrument Manufacture.

After college, he gained valuable experience working for Wilson Peck in Sheffield and Forsyths in Manchester. He then returned to Lincolnshire in 1990 to work for H Poole Ltd in Grimsby. In 1992, he seized the opportunity to purchase the tuning round from Pooles music and started his own business. Today, the company boasts a client base of over 1500 satisfied customers, and the piano technician's time is dedicated to tuning and maintaining their pianos.

In addition to his professional work, the piano technician is also an accomplished organist. He has held several prestigious posts in the local area, including his current position as the organist of Caistor Parish Church. He enjoys collaborating with local schools to enhance the musical culture of the community.

Piano Tuning

At Adams Piano Ltd, we specialize in tuning all types of pianos, including upright and grand pianos. Our piano technician uses Equal Temperament, the standard temperament for modern pianos. However, we can also tune pianos to historic temperaments using modern technology, if requested.

We strive to tune pianos to the international standard A440 Hertz, which was set in 1939 at an international conference in London. While tuning, we assess the piano for any necessary repairs and adjustments. Many minor adjustments can be made during the tuning, while more extensive work is advised as needed.

Our piano technician uses professional software to assist in tuning your piano. While software can be helpful, we believe that good unisons and setting the pin still require training and years of experience. We take pride in our ability to tune pianos aurally, a skill honed during our piano technician's training at college from 1984-87.
