The name "Blaza" has been synonymous with excellence in building design and surveying in West Yorkshire since Anthony John Blaza established his Surveying Practice in 1957. In 1996, his son, Anthony James Blaza, followed in his footsteps and started his Building Design and Surveying Practice. Our offices in Pontefract town centre are equipped with state-of-the-art technology, enabling us to provide our clients with an efficient, competitive, and professional service.

We offer individually tailored packages for both domestic and commercial clients, from small projects to complete project management of large commercial contracts. Our team of experienced professionals is dedicated to providing the highest level of service to our clients.

Building Reports & Surveys

We provide building surveys and reports for home buyers, diagnosis and rectification of specific defects, dilapidations and condition schedules in connection with leases, and fire risk assessments. We are also Diocesan Approved Surveyors for Quinquennial Inspections.

Architectural / Structural Design & Development

Our team of experienced architects and structural engineers provide architectural and structural design for conversions, refurbishments, new build projects and repairs. We also offer interior design including 3D CAD modelling, planning and building regulation applications, building design certification & project management, party wall surveys under Party Wall Act, and new building inspection and certification.

Building Inspection / Certification & Project Management

We provide project management, contract administration, and principal designer under CDM regulations. Our team of experienced professionals is dedicated to providing the highest level of service to our clients, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

Principal Elements Building Survey

Our principal elements building survey includes a detailed inspection of all accessible parts of the following elements: internal and external walls (but excluding finishes and decorations), the roof internally and externally including insulation levels, chimneys and flues externally, gutters and downpipes, drainage (visual inspection at manholes), floors and staircases, flashings and other lead/cement work, damp proof course and sub-floor ventilation, and retaining walls if directly related to the building.

The survey will be carried out within the restrictions imposed by any occupier at the time of the survey. We cannot report that areas which are unseen or inaccessible at the time of inspection are free from defect, infestation or rot, and therefore such areas are excluded from the scope of the survey.

Our inspection will NOT include the following elements: all services (hot/cold water, plumbing, heating, gas/electrical installations, above ground drainage), internal/external decorations, joinery, windows, doors, skirtings, cupboards, kitchen fittings, all fittings (including sanitary fittings, fires, radiators, tanks, etc.), all detached outbuildings, fences, walls, garden areas, drives, hardstandings, etc.
