WR Carter & Sons (Transport) Ltd is a family-run business that has been providing transportation solutions for many years. Based in Owmby by Spital, near Lincoln, our depot is strategically located for easy access throughout the UK. We operate 24/7 throughout the year, combining outstanding service with strong family traditions.

Our business has diversified into a mixture of dry freight and general haulage, serving all areas of the country. We specialise in the movement of pallets for leading pallet companies, including major supermarket distribution centres, 7 days a week. Our trailers are designed in-house and built in Ireland, and we have connections with international freight forwarders for port deliveries and collections.

• Curtain Siders: Our curtain siders are essentially flatbeds with an upper structure mounted as a tarping system. This provides easy access to the trailer for loading and unloading, while also keeping the contents safe and invisible during transit.

• Communication & Training: All our drivers are CPC trained, and our fleet is fitted with mobile phones. Our haulage fleet consists of Volvo tractor units running the latest Euro 5 and Euro 6 engines. All vehicles are fitted with live minute-by-minute tracking systems, ensuring that we can keep you updated on the progress of your goods.

Fleet Specifications

Our diverse modern fleet includes 44-ton trucks, offering haulage solutions throughout the UK on a daily basis. Our step frame trailers can carry up to 26 stacks of pallets, reducing the cost of moving large volumes by lessening the overall number of transported loads. Our flatbed trailers have a 26 stack pallet capacity and are versatile, with loading possible from each side and above. Our curtain siders are flatbeds with an upper structure mounted as a tarping system, providing easy access for loading and unloading.

Our Owmby depot is CCTV protected with Police surveillance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and our trailer storage park enables us to store other companies' freight using their own trailers or alternatively, we can provide trailers.
