What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a drug-free, non-invasive manual therapy that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of structural and mechanical dysfunctions of the body. At Suzanne Upton Registered Osteopath, we believe in a holistic approach to healthcare, understanding that the body works as a whole and that good structural balance is essential for overall well-being.

While osteopaths are well-known for treating spine and joint-related issues, patients have also found relief from various other conditions. Some of the most common conditions we treat include back and neck pain, shoulder and arm problems, pelvis, hip and leg issues, sports injuries, and conditions affecting babies and children.

How Can Osteopathy Help Babies and Children?

During birth, babies can experience forces and strains that may result in uncomfortable stresses in the head or body. These stresses can lead to a range of issues and discomforts for both the young baby and later as the child grows. Cranial osteopathy has been shown to help alleviate these issues, with research demonstrating its benefits in reducing colicky crying, improving sleep, and addressing unsettled behaviour. At Suzanne Upton Registered Osteopath, we are experienced in providing cranial osteopathy to help newborns and children find relief and balance after birth.
