Let your light shine - Matthew 5:16
At The Bristol Bike Project, we are dedicated to providing a comprehensive community bike project that repairs and rehomes unwanted bicycles. Our mission is to empower people from all walks of life by providing access to affordable and sustainable transportation, and encouraging an ethos of DIY and DIT (Do It Together!). We strive to strengthen our community by providing an inclusive, vibrant and supportive workshop environment for people from all backgrounds to come and work alongside one another.
Our Services
We offer a range of services to support our community, including our Earn-a-Bike programme, which provides access to second-hand bikes for those who cannot afford them. Our DIY Maintenance programme offers space, tools, and learning opportunities for those who want to take control of their own bike maintenance. Our Bike Shop and Servicing programme allows customers to buy a bike, bring their own in for a service, or hire our mobile mechanics, with profits supporting our community work.
We also provide educational programmes, such as our Maintenance Courses, which offer opportunities to learn and develop lifelong bike maintenance skills. Additionally, our Bike Kitchen programme offers a space for people to work on their own bikes, with access to tools and expert guidance. Our Raise the Saddle programme is designed to help people overcome barriers to cycling, including lack of confidence or knowledge.
Get Involved
We rely on the support of our community to continue our work. There are many ways to get involved, including volunteering, donating a bike, fundraising, or becoming a supporter. We also offer opportunities to join our Co-op and work with us to continue our mission.
Our Impact
Since our inception, we have refurbished and rehomed over 2,760 bikes to people in need, supported over 541 people with free bike repairs, and hosted over 465 young people in our workshop sessions. We are proud of the impact we have made, and we continue to work towards a future where everyone has access to affordable and sustainable transportation.
