Brooke-Taylors Solicitors is a thriving law firm located in the centre of Buxton. We are proud to have been part of the town's business community since 1846. We offer a first-rate legal service provided by experienced, friendly and caring staff. The vast majority of our staff are Dementia Friends. We have acted for many families for generations and we continue to attract new clients through recommendation.

Our History

Our practice has been established in Buxton for over 150 years. We combine the local knowledge and friendly, efficient service of a traditional firm, with the latest developments in legal practice and the use of modern information technology. Until 2010, the practice traded as a partnership, but since that time, we have traded as a limited company. We are well-regarded and aim to provide a friendly, fair, and expert service. Much of our work is either for existing clients or by recommendation from existing clients.

Our Services

We have four principal departments: Property, Private Client, Family, and Litigation. Our services include business disputes and litigation, children law, civil litigation, commercial property transactions, consumer problems, employment law, family law, house purchase and sales, neighbour disputes, wills, and probate. We combine excellent advice and service with a friendly, caring approach. We put our clients first, making sure they feel at ease. We explain how we charge at the outset, and many transactions are done for a fixed fee.

Private Client Department

Our Private Client Department specialises in Probate, Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, and Court of Protection cases.

Litigation Department

Our Litigation Department deals with employment matters, property and/or rights of way, building disputes, contested wills and estates.

Family Department

Our Family Department covers all aspects of legal work which arise not only when relationships break down but also when they develop and might require a more formal footing.

Property Department

Our Property Department acts for buyers and sellers of freehold and leasehold land and landlords and tenants. We provide other property-related services, including remortgage work, auction advice, and first registration of land.

Lasting Power of Attorney

We provide advice on Lasting Powers of Attorney, which lets you choose trusted people (attorneys) to make decisions on your behalf.

Making or Updating a Will

We assist with making or updating a will, ensuring that your wishes are respected and your loved ones are protected.

Obligation-Free Initial Meeting

If you would like advice on any legal matter, please contact us. In many cases, we will be able to offer you a free of charge initial 15-minute meeting. We will always explain our system of charging fees at the outset.
