South Pennine Dry Stone Walling is a renowned business in the realm of masonry and landscaping, led by Master Craftsman Richard Meller. With his team of skilled professionals, they collaborate with clients to create functional, engaging, and enjoyable outdoor spaces using dry stone walling and masonry. Richard's extensive experience in garden planning and landscaping, coupled with his team's extensive horticultural knowledge, makes for the perfect partnership to transform any area.
Dry Stone Gardens, Landscapes, and Features
Well-constructed dry stone, being both flexible and free-draining, is an ideal material for hard landscaping. The natural beauty of dry stone offers the perfect backdrop for plants and is equally at home in a contemporary setting as in a traditional rural scene. Dry stone walling is the first step in transforming a garden, as it establishes levels and structure, allowing the rest of the garden to take shape.
Stone Buildings and Award-Winning Stone Cladding
A natural stone cladding can add a significant amount to a house or other structure, and we have mastered the art of creating a tight dry stone look with exterior stone cladding. Additionally, we are proficient in creating pointed mortared or lime claddings. We are also adept at planning, designing, and building small-scale stone building projects such as summer houses, garden rooms, and cabins. An example of our work is this new built house, given a unique, bespoke cladding using a local stone, resulting in a finish of the highest quality.
Estate Features and Larger Landscapes
Our team has worked with individuals and organizations to build and restore features on estate grounds, country parks, and large private gardens. Many of these features are traditional to the British countryside, such as ha-has and boundary walls, but can also be modern in design. A Ha-ha is a dry stone retaining wall that is sunken in a ditch, allowing uninterrupted views while providing a barrier to livestock.
