Our History
Dating back to the 16th century, The Queen's Head and Artichoke has a rich history. Once a Royal Hunting Lodge, the pub has been a staple of the local community for centuries. During the 19th century, the pub was relocated to its current site, and the current building dates back to around 1900. The licence itself dates back to the time of Queen Elizabeth 1st, after whom the pub is named. The origin of its name is attributed to Daniel Clark, Master Cook & Head Gardener to both Elizabeth 1st & James 1st.
