Play a piece of history, every day

Located in the heart of Lanark, Scotland, Lanark Golf Club is a historic and prestigious golf club that has been in operation since 1851. Our club is proud to be the world's oldest 'inland' course and the 25th oldest golf club in the world. With a rich history dating back over 170 years, we have a unique claim to fame as one of the oldest golf clubs in the world.

Our Course

Our Old Course is a classic moorland layout that was designed by Old Tom Morris, George Sayers, and later refined by James Braid to the layout we now play today. The course is built on ancient glacial sands, providing firm undulating fairways that drain freely and large fast greens that are played year-round. Our course is a true test of golf, with testing fairways and strategically placed bunkers that require skill and strategy to navigate.

History

Lanark Golf Club has a rich history that spans over 170 years. Founded in 1851, the club has seen many notable milestones, including the addition of new holes in 1897 and 1927, thanks to the expertise of Tom Morris (Snr) and James Braid. The club has also been privileged to host several national and international golf championships, including regional qualifying for The Open Championship.
