Scotby Pre School

Welcome to Scotby Pre-School, located in the heart of Scotby Village, Cumbria, UK. We are a registered charity in England and Wales, dedicated to providing high-quality care and education for children below statutory school age. Our doors are open to all, and we aim to promote equality and value diversity in all that we do.

Our Objectives

Our primary objective is to provide a safe and stimulating environment where children can grow and learn. We believe in working closely with parents to help children learn and develop, and we see parents as partners in this important process. Our setting is community-based and voluntary-managed, and we rely on the support and commitment of our parents to keep going.

In addition, we aim to:

• Add to the life and well-being of the local community
• Offer children and their parents a service that promotes equality and values diversity
• Ensure that each child is given generous care and attention, with a high ratio of qualified staff to children
• Provide a personal key person for each child to ensure satisfactory progress
• Help children build on what they already know and can do

Our History

Scotby Pre-School has been serving the community of Scotby for many years. We have a long and proud history of providing high-quality care and education for children, and we are committed to continuing this tradition.

Our Services

At Scotby Pre-School, we offer a range of services designed to meet the needs of children and their parents. Our sessions are organised to allow children to choose from and work at a range of activities, building up their ability to select and work through a task to its completion. We also offer adult-led small and large group activities, which introduce children to new experiences and help them to gain new skills.

In addition, we provide:

• Outdoor activities that contribute to children's health, physical development, and knowledge of the world around them
• Indoor and outdoor child-chosen and adult-led activities
• Healthy and nutritious snacks, with menu plans designed to meet children's dietary needs
• Protective clothing for messy activities
• Support for children to gain skills that help them to be independent and look after themselves
• Sweatshirts and poloshirts available for purchase

Snacks and Meals

We make snack time a social time at which children and adults eat together. We plan our menus to provide children with healthy and nutritious food. Please let us know about your child's dietary needs and we will make sure that these are met. If your child stays for their lunch, please provide a healthy packed lunch and drink. We are unable to heat food on the premises, so please use an ice pack if providing items that need to be kept cool.

Clothing

We provide protective clothing for children to wear during messy activities. We encourage children to gain skills that help them to be independent and look after themselves. This includes taking themselves to the toilet and taking off, and putting on, outdoor clothing. Clothing that is easy to manage will help them to do this.

Our staff are dedicated to providing high-quality care and education for children. We are always ready and willing to talk with you about your ideas, views, and questions. We hope that you and your child enjoy being members of our setting and that you both find taking part in our activities interesting and stimulating.
