Smith Memorials

Smith Memorials is a proud, family-run business situated just outside the historical city of Armagh. Our memorial work services were originally established as an additional offering to our existing Funeral Undertaking and Vintage Carriage Hire Services. The opportunity to contribute to a local family's memorial back in 2005 marked the beginning of our journey in the memorial work industry, and we have since grown to cater to the needs of families throughout Northern Ireland and the bordering counties of Monaghan and Cavan.

Over the years, we have put together an impressive collection of headstones that cater to a wide range of tastes and preferences. Our selection includes various designs and colours of granite, ranging from the classic and elegant to the rustic and unique. Among the offerings are Celtic, Classic, Rustic, Carved, Bolder, Scrolls and Bibles, Shields, and Period Style Gravestones in Bahama Blue, Black, Blue Lagoon, and Grey.

Surrounds and Side Cladding

When choosing a headstone, it is crucial to consider the style of kerbing and matching corner posts. At Smith Memorials, we take cemetery guidelines into account and offer advice on the most suitable surround options for your chosen headstone. Our surrounds are available in the same material as the headstone, ensuring a cohesive and polished look.

Side cladding is a more recent development in the memorial industry, offering a practical solution for maintaining the appearance of a grave. Constructed from granite panels, side cladding forms the base of a grave below the surround and is installed with the foundation. This design provides a neat and tidy appearance, making it easy to maintain.

Grave Finishes

When selecting a chippings cover for the floor of your memorial, it's essential to choose a finish that is easily maintained. At Smith Memorials, we supply and fit a range of natural stone chippings that are washable. We also offer artificial fire lawn grass, an increasingly popular choice due to its low-maintenance nature.

Memorial Restoration

At Smith Memorials, we believe that part of our service involves restoring aged or weathered gravestones to their former glory. We offer a free survey, followed by a detailed quotation outlining the work required to restore your grave. Our restoration services may include cleaning of headstones and kerbs, chipping replacement or washing, improving existing inscriptions with gold leaf or enamel paint, re-setting loose kerbing, posts, or headstones, adding additional inscriptions, and installing ceramic photo plaques. We also offer an annual attendance service to maintain the condition of your memorial, with prominent dates such as Blessing of the Graves, Birthdays, and Anniversaries arranged upon request.

Our recent projects demonstrate the high-quality workmanship and dedication to customer satisfaction that Smith Memorials embodies. Notable works include an Ogee Style Headstone with square kerbing and flat top posts, presented in black Shanix granite, as well as an M5 Style Headstone with 5x4 square kerbing, flat top posts, polished matching side cladding, and black grave chippings. We take pride in supplying and fitting all our memorials personally, ensuring the highest level of craftsmanship.
