Creating timeless, authentic beauty, one textile at a time.
Chelsea Textiles is a renowned family business, established in 1990 by Mona Perlhagen. Mona, originally a fashion buyer for Bloomingdale's in New York, recognised a gap in the market for authentic replications of antique embroidered fabrics and cushions. With a vision to complement traditional interiors, she dedicated herself to sourcing genuine materials and enlisting the expertise of master craftsmen to produce hand-embroidered fabrics of unparalleled quality.
Over the years, our design ethos has expanded to include the early 20th century, and our product range has grown to incorporate furniture. This evolution is a nod to Mona's seven-year tenure in Sweden, where she fell in love with Scandinavian design and its potential to enhance modern interiors. Our furniture collection blends traditional Gustavian design with 20th-century design classics, all reimagined to suit the subtler aesthetics of 21st-century living.
At Chelsea Textiles, we collaborate with top interior designers worldwide and have partnered with distinguished designers, including Robert Kime, Alidad, Neisha Crosland, Kit Kemp, Domenica More Gordon, Patrick Kinmonth, and Ramiro Fernandez Saus. Together, we have developed exclusive fabric and wallpaper collections, and in partnership with Turner Pocock, we have created our acclaimed Bobbin furniture collection. Our work also extends to boutique hotels such as the Red Carnation and Firmdale groups, where we have contributed to the interiors of hotels such as Covent Garden, Haymarket, Soho, Ham Yard, Crosby Street, and Whitby.
Under the leadership of Mona's daughter, Jenny Simpson, our dedication to authentic detailing remains steadfast. With a background in history of art and interior design from London and New York, Jenny joined the firm as chief designer in 2005. She continues to uphold the company's commitment to exceptional craftsmanship while infusing a fresh, contemporary approach, guiding Chelsea Textiles in exciting new directions.
Our dedicated team includes Mona Perlhagen (Director), Jenny Simpson (Design Director), Stephen Charlick (Embroidery Manager), Wendy Butterworth (Fabrics Manager), Samuele Idi (Furniture Sales Consultant), Georgia Westgate (Client Relationship Manager), and Dawn Winks (Sales Associate).
