Welcome to West London Kung Fu, the home of traditional Five Animals Kung Fu Shaolin Hung Gar Kuen. Our club is a part of the Wei-t-o Kung Fu organisation, which was founded by Sifu Geof Hasbrouck to preserve the arts of the Ti Ku Sam Lineage. We are proud to continue this tradition, passing on the understanding and joy of practising traditional Kung Fu.
Our Services
At West London Kung Fu, we offer practical self-defence training through the art of Hung Kuen. Our training methods are based on traditional techniques, providing you with the skills to defend yourself effectively. However, Hung Kuen is more than just self-defence. It encompasses yoga, aerobic fitness, health, traditional medicine, competition, art, and more.
Our self-defence training includes striking, grappling, throwing, and understanding vital points. We teach you to strike with power, avoid and control punches and kicks, use leverage to apply locks, and understand anatomy and medicine to attack vulnerable points. We also teach you how to avoid potentially harmful situations, diffuse them, and use measured force to escape them. Our weapons training includes the staff, sword, dagger, spear, and walking stick.
Who is Hung Kuen For?
Kung Fu is for everyone. It does not matter whether you are tall or short, big or small, male or female. This is the art for you. It is an ideal art for women, with foundations in balance, natural movement, and good body mechanics. You do not need to be super fit to start Kung Fu. Practising the art will build and sustain your health and fitness. There is no upper age limit, but there is an age requirement. We do not offer classes for children under the age of 14.
Benefits of Practising Hung Kuen
Practising Hung Kuen improves coordination, posture, balance, flexibility, and the strength of joints and muscles. It reduces stress, increases aerobic fitness, and cultivates energy, making you look and feel younger. It also practices mindfulness and is, above all, fun!
The Tradition
Our club is part of the Wei-t-o Kung Fu organisation, which has instructors specialising in different areas of Kung Fu, from healing medicine to fighting in the ring. There are over 280 years of martial arts experience represented in this photo. Wei-t-o was founded by Sifu Geof Hasbrouck and left to long-time student Wayne Armstrong. Sadly, both Sifu Hasbrouck and Wayne passed away in 2018, but their students continue their work.
