Blake Architects is led by Jonathan Nettleton, an alumnus of the esteemed Mackintosh School of Architecture who garnered valuable experience from Dannatt, Johnson. His portfolio includes working on historic projects such as Kew Gardens, Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich, and Terwick Wood. With a passion for the Cotswold countryside, Jonathan returned to launch Blake Architects in 2011, leading a diverse and experienced team dedicated to delivering exceptional architectural services.

Our studio is a converted Cotswold barn located in a picturesque village between Cirencester and Cheltenham. The premises reflect our core values of sustainability, creativity, and innovation. It is highly insulated, heated from a ground source heat pump, and features large windows that minimize energy usage, reducing our carbon footprint. Our eclectic mix of traditional inspiration from our library of architectural books and modern technology, such as virtual reality software and hand-drawn sketches, enables us to deliver state-of-the-art designs and visuals.

We are proud to be a RIBA Chartered Practice, qualified in Passivhaus design, members of the Green Register and signatories of Architects Declare. Buildings and construction have a significant impact on our environment, and we are committed to designing sustainable spaces that stand the test of time.

Our Services

At Blake Architects, we offer clients a comprehensive range of architectural services, including initial briefs, design, and project management, through to the handover of keys. We have worked on diverse projects, including historic barns, private houses, hotels, holiday homes, shops, offices, schools, and more.

Our approach is tailored to suit each client's specific brief, incorporating their preferences through a range of skills and technologies, from sketching and drawing to capture the essence of the project to 3D drawing and modeling to innovate and inspire. We use complex environmental simulations, cutting-edge virtual reality software, and a broad spectrum of specialist consultants to help each client realize the full potential of their building.

Our workflow typically follows six industry-standard stages, including brief, concept design, developed design, technical design, construction, and handover. Before undertaking any work, we will be in close conversation with our client, setting out a clear path and agreeing on a fee for each stage of the project.
