Tools For Solidarity is a not-for-profit organisation based in Belfast, dedicated to supporting artisans in the poorest parts of the world, particularly in Africa. Our work is fully run by international, local, and supported volunteers, who share our vision of creating a more sustainable future for all. We believe that by working together, we can make a significant difference in the lives of others, and that's why we're committed to providing high-quality sewing machines and tools to those who need them most.
Our Mission
Our mission is to empower local artisans in Africa, enabling them to become more self-reliant and have hope for the future. We achieve this by providing them with the necessary tools and training, which in turn helps them to develop their skills and start their own businesses. Our projects in Africa focus on supporting artisans in the poorest sections of rural and urban areas, providing them with the opportunity to improve their lives and make a positive impact on their communities.
Our Services
We offer a range of services, including education and training programmes, volunteer opportunities, and fundraising initiatives. Our Education for Sustainable Development programme aims to create awareness about poverty, global injustice, and environmental issues, and we deliver this programme to schools in Belfast and Northern Ireland. Our Supported Volunteer Programme provides opportunities for people with special needs to contribute to society positively, while our Refugee and Asylum Seeker Programme helps local refugees and asylum seekers to gain new skills and start a new phase in their lives.
Our Impact
We're proud of the impact we've had so far, and we're committed to continuing our work to make a difference in the lives of others. In the past year, we've worked with 17 volunteers, helped 300 artisans, and shipped over 4,900 donations to regions in Tanzania and the Lake District.
