St Canice Primary School

Welcome to St. Canice Primary School and Nursery Unit, a Catholic primary school located in Dungiven, Northern Ireland. Our school is dedicated to providing a caring and effective education service, enabling children to reach their full potential in academics, religion, and human development. Our Mission and Aims

At St. Canice Primary School and Nursery Unit, we aim to provide a child-centred education, where every pupil is encouraged to learn, live, and laugh together. Our mission is to serve the Dungiven community by providing a high-quality education that prepares our pupils for their future lives. We believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life, and we strive to create a nurturing environment that fosters academic excellence, social responsibility, and emotional well-being.

Our Services

We offer a range of services to support the educational and personal development of our pupils. Our nursery unit provides a safe and stimulating environment for children aged 3-4, where they can learn and play together. Our primary school caters for pupils from Year 1 to Year 7, offering a broad and balanced curriculum that includes literacy, numeracy, science, and physical education. We also provide additional services, such as accelerated reading and mathletics programs, to support pupils who require extra help.

Safeguarding and Child Protection

At St. Canice Primary School and Nursery Unit, we take the safety and well-being of our pupils very seriously. Our School Safeguarding Team, led by the Chair of School Governors, works closely with our Designated Governor for Safeguarding, Designated Teacher for Child Protection, and Deputy Designated Teachers to ensure that our school is a safe and secure environment for all pupils.
