Positive Comments:

  • We had a great evening at Rumours celebrating our anniversary.
  • Small Restaurant with it's own style (Not the usual chain).
  • Friendly service.
  • Two of us went for the Pizza which was awesome with top quality ingredients.
  • One of us had the Halloumi Salad which was brimming with top quality ingredients again.
  • From the food we ordered I would say Rumour's takes pride in their food - it's just a cut above similarly priced restaurants
  • Busy lunchtime and service was calm and well timed with none of that hassle and interruptions of, "How is your meal?", I SO very much prefer meals this way.
  • generous and nice burger and, lovely mussels, and apart from the slightly high price of a large glass of Shiraz, a good all round value lunch.
  • Gluten free and vegan pizza was amazing, service was great
  • Booked in as a couple for my birthday. We could not fault the food as it was all delicious, especially the pizza. Friendly staff as well.
  • Amazing food and atmosphere! The waiters were very friendly and attentive.
  • The steak was one of the best we'd ever had.
  • Definitely book ahead as they were busy all night on a Tuesday.
  • They were also dog friendly.
  • Amazing food. Amazing atmosphere. Waiters were very friendly and attentive.
  • One particular member of staff walked over and just stared at us without even speaking and expected us to know what it was he wanted/was asking.
  • Unwelcoming, unhelpful, and actually quite intimidating & rude staff.
  • Huge shame because the food was lush - atmosphere was absolutely terrible.
  • I wouldn't ever return here after that experience
  • Amazing tasty food. Friendly and attentive service. Great relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommend!
  • Our go-to place for coffee, lunch or dinner. Friendly service, good wine list and great food including iconic burgers and some of the best pizza around.
  • We had the Rumour burgers with fries & they were lush. The atmosphere was warm & friendly will definitely be going back soon to try more of the menu, very good red wine also yummy cappuccino
  • They have special dinners for two on Sunday, steak with salad, chips and a bottle of wine red or white, but you must book first, it was amazing and we have a delicious dessert to finish and I can describe how good it was! So 100% recommend this place and the service really good

Negative Comments:

  • Let me start by saying the guy who served us was wonderful. So last time we came it was such an amazing experience I couldn't wait to go back when next visiting the in laws. Last time the gluten free vegan pizza was a 12 inch and it was amazing we ordered 3 and said next time we would share. So this visit was a let down we ordered 3 gluten free pizzas again as I starved myself all day in anticipation of the amazing pizza to be told they had one gluten free base as me and my partner are both celiac we decided to share and our mother in law changed her order.

The pizza came out and it was only a nine inch hardly any cheese and as the chips are not gluten free we had a side salad which was leaves with some onion and cucumbers. It wasn't the experience I was expecting we ate as we were starving but then went to room 101 to get a second on. Hopefully next time we come back we can try again as I'm hoping this was just a one off as it's a really lovely place.

  • Would of been five stars but the cocktails were just ok. But all in all great place to visit while in Totnes. Went back after two months was so excited to come back. But it wasn't as good as the first time around left hungry and disappointed.
  • The website menu does need updating because the prices are incorrect. Everything appears to have had a 1.50-2.50 price increase according to the menu they provided on the night. 1 star removed because we ordered the bread board to start but don't feel it was worth 8 as only 3 slices of bread and 2 breadsticks was provided for two people which is 1.5 pieces each.
  • Unwelcoming, unhelpful, and actually quite intimidating & rude staff. Huge shame because the food was lush - atmosphere was absolutely terrible. One particular member of staff walked over and just stared at us without even speaking and expected us to know what it was he wanted/was asking. I wouldn't ever return here after that experience
