Wealden Institute, incorporating Wealden College and Wealden Psychology Services, is an independent private organisation established in 1986. We are dedicated to the provision of excellence within the psychology, counselling, and psychotherapy fields. Our offices may be temporarily closed to the public, but we are still operating, and you can reach us via email or by leaving a message on our telephone answerphone.
Our Philosophy
At Wealden Institute, we believe in a broadly humanistic approach. We think that all techniques and theories are limited and should never be used in ways that avoid or distort contactful relationships between clients and counsellors or therapists. Individuals are worthy of respect, acceptance, and understanding because they are human. People are responsible for the decisions they make, how they think, feel, and behave, and they can change these decisions. People are responsible for making their own meanings and for their beliefs about themselves and others. People are experts on themselves. People have a tendency to seek self-actualisation (to realise their own potential). Behaviour is functional, or at one time was functional, even if it now seems not to be. Ownership of positive goals will enable people to work towards them more energetically. These values and goals are embedded in all our training programmes and are reflected in their content and structure and in the kind of people who are our tutors.
Wealden College of Counselling & Psychotherapy
Wealden College of Counselling & Psychotherapy is an independent college providing excellence in professional development for the Psychotherapy & Counselling professions. We offer fully accredited courses, a short course and CPD workshop programme, which includes Bowen Technique, EMDR, and Equine Assisted Trauma Clinic. Our philosophy is embedded in all our training programmes, which are designed to develop highly skilled professionals.
Wealden Psychology & Expert Witness Services
Wealden Psychology & Expert Witness Services offers the direct provision of psychology services, with specialist services for the legal profession. Our services include Chartered Psychologist Expert Witness Service for the Legal Profession, Clinical Psychology, Psychotherapy and Counselling, and Organisational and Occupational Psychology and Consulting.
Wealden Counselling & Psychotherapy Service
Wealden Counselling & Psychotherapy Service provides help for men and women, children, couples, families, and groups. Our services include Clinical & Counselling Psychology, Psychotherapy, Counselling, Coaching, Transactional Analysis, EMDR Trauma Therapy, Animal Assisted Therapy, Psychometric Testing & Clinical Diagnosis, and Clinical Supervision. We also offer online, Skype, and telephone Therapy & Supervision.
Wealden Organisational Services
Wealden Organisational Services provides Executive Coaching & Development, Optimum Performance Technologies, Development & Training, Management Consultancy, and Employee Assistance Programme. We also offer Psychological and Psychometric testing & assessment.
Wealden Organics
Wealden Organics is a small organic farm, growing salads & vegetables. We use therapeutic & educational use of horticulture & equine sport. We also offer training and therapeutic work with animals as co-therapists.
