Wind in the Willows is a home-from-home nursery in the heart of Milton, Portsmouth, opened in 2015 by two local professionals with a wealth of knowledge and experience in childcare. Our nursery is dedicated to providing a safe, secure, and stimulating environment for children aged 3 months to 5 years, catering to their individual needs, learning, and development.
Our Mission
Our mission at Wind in the Willows is to ensure a safe, secure, and stimulating environment, focusing on the safeguarding and development of every individual child and their families within our care. We aim to do this by providing high-quality care and education, creating a home-from-home atmosphere where all children, their families, and visitors feel welcome and comfortable.
Our Facilities and Services
We operate from a lovely, bright, and spacious building on Hester Road, with a large garden area that allows us to explore and learn in a natural environment. Our rooms and outdoor space are designed to cater to all ages and needs, covering all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) while supporting the children's individual learning and development. We provide childcare for children aged 3 months to 5 years, with dedicated teams of staff in each room to support their individual needs. Our services include:
- Baby Room (for ages 3 months - approx 15-18 months)
- Toddler Room (for approximately 15-18 months - 2-2.5 years)
- Two-Year Room
- Preschool Room (for 3 years and above)
- Holiday Club for children up to 12 years of age
- Twin School in The Gambia, with regular visits and fundraising initiatives
Our Community Involvement
We pride ourselves on our community involvement, regularly participating in fundraising for local, national, and international charities. We also have strong links with nearby schools, ensuring a smooth transition for our children when they start school. Our Owner/Director, Karen Potter, has won the Nursery Manager of the Year award 2020, demonstrating our commitment to excellence in childcare.
