Martial Arts for Life is an independent organisation dedicated to teaching safe, traditional, practical and fun Karate and martial arts in the Yorkshire region. We are led by Master Janet McKenna (5th Dan) and her team of qualified, professional instructors.
We understand that people who are new to Karate or returning to Martial Arts training may have concerns about what is involved, whether they are fit enough, and how they will fit into our classes. Fortunately, we run open, affordable, friendly, and welcoming classes for adults and children alike. We practice a safe, non-contact form of Karate; our professional instructors are fully qualified, insured, trained in basic first aid, and DBS checked.
Our classes are suitable for people of any fitness level, including those who are looking to get fit for the very first time! Our students frequently tell us what a great full-body workout they get from our classes. Beginners often comment on how welcoming the club is, and nerves vanish within minutes of walking through the door.

Our Team
Meet our team of experienced and qualified instructors, led by Master Janet McKenna (5th Dan). Our instructors are passionate about martial arts and dedicated to helping you achieve your fitness goals. With years of experience and a wealth of knowledge, our team is here to guide and support you every step of the way.
Master Andy Moodie (4th Dan) is our Fitness Expert, with a particular interest in free sparring and the practical aspects of Karate training. Master Simon Turver (4th Dan) is our Technical Advisor, with a passion for knowledge and a wealth of experience in forms applications and knife defence. Master Geoff Crocker (4th Dan) is one of our longest-standing members, with a wealth of martial arts knowledge and experience.
