Watsons Groundworks Ltd is a family-run business that has been in operation for over two decades. Based in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, we have grown from a modest starting point to now directly employing over 30 people and maintaining our own fleet of excavators, vehicles, and plant. Our commitment to long-term relationships has led us to work with housing developers and business clients of all sizes across the Yorkshire and Humber regions.

*Civil Engineering*: Our services include the construction of new roads, foul and surface water drainage, deep drainage, stormwater attenuation systems, sewer connections, and the installation of manholes and hydrobrakes.

*Hard Landscaping*: We provide a variety of services, such as the installation of roads and sewers.

Our Team

Watsons Groundworks is led by Managing Director, Carl Watson. With 30 years of experience in the industry, Carl brings extensive knowledge of groundworks and civil engineering. Our commercial manager, Joe Dickinson, brings valuable experience pricing commercial projects to the team. Our contracts manager, Rob Hancock, is responsible for day-to-day operations on sites and ensuring that we continue to provide an excellent service to our clients.

Training & Recruitment

We recognise that our people are our most valuable asset, and we strive to retain the best possible talent by investing in their training and development. All of our on-site employees are CSCS/CPCS certified, and all site supervisors are SSSTS and First Aid certified. We also have both Supervisors and Operatives with Streetworks (NRSWA) cards. We provide regular training on a variety of other subjects, such as Confined Spaces, location of services using CAT & Genny, and Abrasive Wheels.
