A lifelong passion for art ignited Steve O'Connell's journey, leading him to become one of the world's leading painters of dance. Born and raised in Islington, London, by hardworking Irish parents, Steve developed a deep love for art from a young age. Despite initial encouragement, his school discouraged him from pursuing it, leading him to take a more practical route.
Driven by his artistic aspirations, Steve taught himself various art forms, driven by books and manuals. While working as a junior commercial artist proved unfulfilling, he eventually dared to establish his own business at London's historic Apple Market. Initially selling wildlife and landscape drawings, Steve's inspiration shifted towards the captivating dancers he encountered at the Royal Opera House, leading him to paint and capture their graceful movements.
Over the past 15 years, Steve's talent has blossomed. His paintings capturing dance are highly sought after worldwide, adorning the collections of discerning art lovers. Additionally, he has designed dancewear for renowned companies and recently launched his own fashion dancewear line featuring his unique printed designs.
