Our Story
Here at the M.O.T Centre, we started carrying out M.O.T's in Melksham in 1985, where we offer you a fair and honest test. We have a modern testing centre, along with our old-fashion values, just what you would expect from a true family business. The M.O.T rules are continuing to change to allow and adapted to modern vehicles. With this in mind, we are always growing and evolving along with these changes.

We can test a variety of vehicles, including camper vans, minibuses, and work vans. We also offer a collect and drop-off service locally and a free M.O.T reminder service to ensure you never miss your test date.

Our Team
Our team of experienced technicians and support staff are dedicated to providing you with the best possible service. With over 150 years of combined experience in the motor trade, we have the knowledge and expertise to tackle any problem. We are proud to say that we have several team members who started as apprentices and have worked their way up to become fully qualified technicians. We believe in giving young people the opportunity to learn and grow with us, and we are proud of the role we play in shaping the next generation of motor trade professionals.
Our History
Our story begins with Alan Johnson, who completed his training at the highly respected LEX College of Bristol. Alan went on to work at several garages in Bath and Bristol, progressing quickly to foreman roles, before deciding to take the leap and go self-employed. Alan set up a workshop in a small garage at the bottom of his parents' garden in Bathford in the 1970s, building his client base and gaining a good reputation. This led to the opening of a garage in Weymouth Street, just off London Road in Bath, called D.A.J MOTORS. When the opportunity arose to purchase THE JC CLEANERS (steam cleaning) and the then-called MOT D.I.Y garage in Bowerhill Melksham, Alan seized it, and the rest, as they say, is history.
