Paul J King Funeral Directors is an independent, family-run funeral firm that has been serving the communities of South East Essex since 1990. Our mission is to provide a caring, professional, and worry-free service to our clients during their most difficult times. As an independent funeral director, we are not bound by the business targets set by a corporate head office. Instead, we focus on providing personalised care and attention to our clients, offering advice and guidance to help them navigate the organisational tasks that arise following a death. We have offices in Chelmsford, Braintree, South Woodham Ferrers, Burnham-on-Crouch, Hullbridge, and Maldon, from where we cover the majority of South East Essex. Our team is always available to visit families in their homes or to arrange visits to our Chapel of Rest at any of our offices.

• Coffins: We offer a range of coffins, from traditional wooden caskets to more eco-friendly options. Our team can provide advice and guidance on choosing the right coffin for your loved one.
• Transportation: We provide dignified transportation for the deceased, using a fleet of modern, well-maintained vehicles. We can also arrange for horse-drawn carriages or motorcycle hearse transportation.
• Flowers & Wreaths: We can help families choose the right flowers and wreaths to express their feelings and memories. We work with local florists to provide a range of options, from traditional funeral wreaths to more personalised floral tributes.

Our team is made up of experienced, compassionate professionals who are dedicated to providing the highest levels of care and attention to our clients. Our managing director, Paul J King, founded the business in 1990 and has built it into the respected and trusted funeral firm it is today. Our team includes funeral directors, transportation drivers, stone masons, and administrative staff, all of whom are committed to providing a personal, exceptional service to every family we serve.

Our Offices

We have offices in Chelmsford, Braintree, South Woodham Ferrers, Burnham-on-Crouch, Hullbridge, and Maldon, all of which are fully equipped to provide a comfortable and dignified service to our clients. Our Chapel of Rest is available for families to visit their loved ones in a peaceful and serene environment, and we can accommodate visits at a mutually convenient time.

Our Work in the Community

Our managing director, Paul J King, is a trustee for a national charity and is involved with several local charity-based organisations. He is also an active Freemason and has served as chairman for the Essex and Suffolk region of the National Association of Funeral Directors. Our team is committed to providing ongoing support and care to our clients, even after the funeral has taken place.
