Our story begins in 1958 when Godfrey McWhirter, a skilled watchmaker, and his wife Muriel, embarked on a bold journey to open their own business. With Godfrey's passion for his craft and Muriel's business acumen, the couple built a strong foundation for their company. Over the years, the McWhirters has expanded their services, relocated to six different premises, and established a reputation for providing exceptional quality, family values, and friendly service.
Our Story
Godfrey McWhirter, a master watchmaker, had always been fascinated by the intricate mechanics of timepieces. At the age of 26, he and his new wife Muriel decided to take the leap and open their own business, McWhirter's Jewellers. Godfrey's dedication to his craft and Muriel's business sense proved to be the perfect combination for success. The company flourished, and the McWhirters built a reputation for excellence, which has endured for generations.
As the business grew, Godfrey and Muriel's children began to get involved. Their son Garry, at the age of 21, joined the family business, bringing his own unique skills as a diamond specialist, sales executive, and watchmaker. Garry's passion for the family business was matched only by his dedication to his family.
