About me

My name is Richard Wilkinson, and I'm a seasoned piano tuner and technician with over 35 years of experience. My passion for music and meticulous attention to detail have allowed me to provide comprehensive piano tuning and repair services to clients throughout Yorkshire and Staffordshire.

My journey began with formal training at Newark and Sherwood College, where I earned qualifications in Piano Tuning, Maintenance, and Repair. This foundation led me to work in a music shop on the Sussex coast for four years, before I returned to my home county of Yorkshire in 1989. I've been proudly serving the region ever since.

My diverse background encompasses work in both private and public settings, including schools, colleges, churches, theaters, and private households. I've had the privilege of tuning and maintaining instruments for prestigious institutions like the University of Leeds School of Music and even had the opportunity to prepare pianos for notable musicians like Jools Holland and Victoria Wood.

My Expertise

My expertise extends beyond simply tuning pianos. I can accurately diagnose and address various issues, from broken strings to uneven action mechanism adjustments. I also offer comprehensive piano care guidance, helping clients make informed decisions regarding their instruments.

Fees

My standard tuning fee is 58, which includes travel within a 15-minute radius. Any additional costs may apply if materials are required or if the piano requires extensive attention. These circumstances will be clearly communicated and agreed upon beforehand.
