Empowering You to Focus on Recovery, We'll Handle the Rest
Bakery Roy-Al is a family-run business with a rich baking heritage that spans four generations, serving the South Somerset community since 1995. Roy, our founder, is a fourth-generation baker whose father and grandfather ran a bakery business in Kingsbury Episcopi, and whose great grandfather had a bakery business in Long Load. Our bakery takes great pride in its long-standing tradition of producing high-quality baked goods that reflect our commitment to local sourcing and traditional baking methods.
Our Sourcing and Supply
At Bakery Roy-Al, we source our ingredients as locally as possible, supporting local small shops, pubs, cafes, and National Trust Properties. We prioritise using locally-sourced ingredients in all of our products, and are proud to be a Director of a local baker's buying cooperative, from which most of our ingredients are sourced. We believe in supporting local businesses and producers, and in reducing our carbon footprint by sourcing ingredients locally.
Our Flour
All of our flour is from an independent family miller, ensuring the highest quality and freshest ingredients. We use a range of flours, including white, wholemeal, granary, sunflower, slowdough, and spelt, as well as a gluten-free flour for our customers who have specific dietary requirements. We make our bread the old-fashioned way, using a long fermentation process to ensure the best flavour and texture.
Our Products
At Bakery Roy-Al, we offer a wide range of products, including cakes, bread, biscuits, savouries, gluten-free, fresh cream cakes, special occasion cakes, and seasonal products. We are proud to say that our bread is made the traditional way, with a long fermentation process, and that our cakes are freshly baked every day. We also offer gluten-free options, ensuring that everyone can enjoy our delicious baked goods.
Our Awards
Roy has won many prizes in the Western Bakery Championships, including 'Best Loaf in Show' in 2015-16, reflecting our commitment to quality and tradition. We are proud to have won these awards, and are committed to continuing to produce high-quality baked goods that our customers can enjoy.
Our Social Responsibility
At Bakery Roy-Al, we are committed to giving back to our community. We have a charity box in each of our shops, and all money donated goes to Lufton College. We have previously donated to Fiveways School in Yeovil, and raised enough money for them to have a new cooker in their kitchen, which they use for cooking classes. We believe in supporting our community, and in giving back to those in need.
Our Shops
We have three shops located in Martock, Ilminster, and South Petherton, all of which reflect our commitment to quality and tradition. We invite you to visit us and sample our delicious baked goods.
