Your complete plumbing and heating solution, guaranteed!

The Middle House, previously known as The White Rose Hotel, is a charming establishment situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Askrigg, within the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Renowned for its appearance in the 1980s BBC television series "All Creatures Great and Small", based on the works of James Herriot, this vibrant village offers an ideal location for a visit to North Yorkshire. Our dedication to providing excellent drinks, delicious food, comfortable traditional accommodation, and warm Yorkshire hospitality sets us apart.

Food

Our kitchen specialises in creating traditional Yorkshire dishes, using locally sourced ingredients such as meat from Hammond's of Bainbridge and vegetables and eggs from Carrick's of Bedale. We serve lunch from 12noon to 2pm, Thursday to Sunday, and dinner from 5:30pm to 8pm, Monday, Wednesday to Sunday. Please note that we do not offer lunch service on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and there is no dinner service on Tuesday.

Drinks

Our bar offers a superb selection of beverages, including Wensleydale cask ales, brewed in Leyburn. Our bar is open from 12noon to close, Thursday to Sunday, and from 4:30pm to close on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. We welcome well-behaved dogs in the bar and games room, but kindly ask that they remain under close supervision, on a lead, and away from areas that may cause a tripping hazard. Additionally, we have a range of dog-friendly guest bedrooms available.

Accommodation

Our rooms cater to various preferences and budgets, ranging from Comfy Double to Superior King rooms. All rooms feature en-suite shower/bath facilities for two adults and are equipped with quality amenities to ensure a comfortable stay. Our rooms are meticulously cleaned and well-presented. To secure the best rate, we recommend booking your rooms directly with us.

Accessibility

Please be aware that due to the historic nature of our building, we do not have a lift, and some rooms may require stairs to access. If you have any mobility concerns or require a ground-floor room, kindly inform us during the booking process, and we will do our utmost to accommodate your needs.
