At Shipley Transport, we have a rich history that dates back to 1980 when the company was founded by David's father, Derrick Clarke. With a strong work ethic and a vision to provide excellent customer service, Derrick started the business with a modest beginning, moving furniture and other goods using a Ford Transit van. Over the years, the company has grown and expanded its services to become one of the most respected road hauliers in West Yorkshire.

Our History

Our story began in the 1980s when Derrick Clarke started the business with a Ford Transit van. As the business grew, David acquired his driving licence at 17 followed by his CPC at 18 and his International CPC two years later. The business continued to expand throughout the 1980s and the removal work expanded with the buy-out of another removal company in 1983.

In the 1990s, Shipley Transport diversified from domestic removals into general haulage, warehousing, and worldwide shipping. We moved from Shipley to Low Moor in Bradford to be near the motorway network, where we built a purpose-built warehouse with full dock level bays for ever-increasing loading requirements.

As the company continued to expand, we purchased further land and extended our warehouse facilities along with a brand-new office block. In the 2000s, we continued to expand our fleet with the purchase of articulated vehicles. We also invested in a bespoke tailor-made online transport computer system, which totally transformed the way we operated and increased maximum productivity within our fleet.

In the 2010s, we accelerated our growth and became one of West Yorkshire's most prominent and respected road hauliers. We invested over 1.5 million pounds to extend our existing warehouse and built a new state-of-the-art 3-bay garage to service our own vehicles and ever-growing trailer fleet.
