Function Design

At Function Design Furniture, our main objective is to create something that exceeds our customers' expectations and will last a lifetime. Our story began in 2010 as a sole cabinet maker, and now we proudly have a team of 24 people. Our joinery, furniture, and cabinetry are designed and manufactured by our own team in Killinchy, Co. Down. We have recently built a brand-new workshop, which includes a spray paint shop facility that would rival the very best out there. We have also created a beautiful showroom in the barn where our old workshop used to be to showcase some of our work.

Our team comprises very talented designers, some of the best carpenters and joiners who can basically make anything out of wood. We have an exceptional fitting team that are also cabinet makers by trade, so as you can imagine, nothing is a problem. We have paint shop specialists who have a vast knowledge and experience of applying both new and traditional finishes. We also take on new apprentices, whom we like to immerse in our wealth of knowledge and hope to bring through the ranks to time-served cabinet makers. All of this is overseen by myself, as I play a very active role in the manufacturing and fitting.

We ascertain your exact requirements and incorporate any ideas you may wish us to explore before producing the perfect design. Our skilled craftsmen bring your ideal design to reality using traditional furniture-making methodologies and cabinetry skills. We also provide exceptional installation services, ensuring that our finished products are installed with total perfection. Additionally, we offer a range of finishing options, including traditional finishes such as shellac, lacquer, oil, and wax, as well as modern surfaces utilizing the latest compounds. We also provide a hand-painting service from experienced cabinet painters.

What We Do

Our catalogue of work has a wide range and is varied. Our projects have included architectural joinery such as internal doors, window panels, working window shutters, wall paneling, and panelled archways. Our fitted furniture catalogue is vast and includes kitchens, pantries, utility rooms, studies, libraries, dressing rooms, wardrobes, and vanity units. We also make one-off pieces of furniture to match existing or just a separate free-standing piece.
